Another Nine refugee joins Stepho at ARN Media
Former Nine sales chief Michael Stephenson continued to put the band back together, down the road at his new North Sydney home of ARN Media.
Last week Stephenson, now ARN Media’s chief operating officer, hired his former number two at Nine Richard Hunwick as sales director.
Today saw Nine’s former director of data and digital advertising products Ben Campbell come on board as director of digital strategy, data and digital ventures. More recently Campbell led Ooh Media’s data play at its retail media arm Reo with his departure coming after just nine months.
Make Meta sell Instagram, argue US officials
A long awaited anti-trust case in the US finally got underway. The Federal Trade Commission is arguing that Meta should break up Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Nobody cares about Threads.

Clive Palmer is outspending Labor and the Coalition during the election campaign, an analysis of political spending on behalf of Mumbrella revealed
Saving Ryan’s politics
A day after after freezing and staring into space when asked on the ABC’s Insiders whether politicians should declare when they pay influencers to post about them, independent MP Monique Ryan has decided she does have an opinion after all. She now thinks it should be declared.
Coalition turns to rap
The Coalition’s campaign moved to a rarely selected gear, with the release of a diss track entitled Leaving Labor. The track features the lyric: “It ain’t the way it’s supposed to be; the money we’re spending on grocer-ies; I just wanna buy some eggs and cheese.”
Albo: I love picking up a paper
Prime minister Anthony Albanese issued the kind of endorsement of the medium of print that ThinkNewsBrands could only have dreamed of. Visiting Australia’s only working print mill in Tasmania, he told journalists:
“I love picking up a paper. I love holding it. I love reading it. So do many Australians. I think it’s important that it continue to exist. I think it’s important that magazines continue to exist.”
Unmade Index
The Unmade Index finally showed signs of calm today, nudging upwards by 0.29%. The positive move was slightly better than the wider ASX All Ordinaries which was up by 0.13% today.
Ooh Media - up by 2.1% and Pureprofile - up by 2.9% - had the best of it today, while Enero lost 5.5% and IVE Group slipped 2.5%.
