The day: New firepower at Mumbrella Media; UFC boss vs the SMH; Bruce Gordon homes in on Nine
Hal Crawford takes the helm
Unmade and Mumbrella unveiled a new editorial leader. Reporting in to publisher Tim Burrowes, Hal Crawford started today as editor-in-chief of Mumbrella Media.
Dana White’s disdain
Australia’s media was gifted a free character assessment by UFC President Dana White.
White responded to a column from Sydney Morning Herald editor Bevan Shields decrying NSW taxpayer support for bringing a UFC fight to NSW. He informed a press conference today: “For a place that is so tough, you have the biggest pussies I’ve ever seen in the media in my life. Holy fucking shit, you guys have to have the biggest fucking pussies of all time.”
Bruce Gordon’s long route to media dominance
Bruce Gordon may soon have a route to take control of Nine, reports Capital Brief. Gordon is now close to selling his Network 10-affiliated northern NSW TV licence. Once a deal is done, the way would be clear for Gordon to convert his indirect stake in Nine into voting stock, which would give him approximately 25% of the business, making him the dominant shareholder.
Time to leave you to your evening. We’ll be back with more soon.
Have a great night.
Toodlepip…
