BG brings new (old) blood into Nine
Nine’s under-performing radio division unveiled an overhaul of its sales operation. New audio commercial director Brian Gallagher, who previously ran sales at Southern Cross Austereo, brought in former SCA colleagues Christine Lester as Melbourne sales director, Michael Graham as Brisbane sales director, and Noel Quick as sales director of Nine Audio.
Uber goes straight to the (non) fuel room
Uber launched a marketing campaign for its green low emissions option featuring stars of beloved local movie The Castle including Stephen Curry, Anthony Simcoe and Michael Caton.
RN finds a pulse in Canberra
The ABC’s Radio National staged a comeback in the latest Canberra ratings. In the city’s second GfK survey of the year, covering the period from February 23 to June 21, RN’s audience share jumped from 4.9% to 8.5%. ARN Media and SCA’s jointly owned Mix 106.3 won the survey with a share of 22.3% despite losing three share points.
Hyland hits the road
Virginia Hyland’s time as CEO of Havas Media came to a messy end, with news emerging today that she has left the business and launched legal action against the company that bought her agency five years ago.
Max rebrand
Four months after launching into the Australian market as Max, the Warner Bros Discovery subscription streaming platform today rebranded as HBO Max.
Ooh Media continues its charge
Ooh Media has continued its ramp up in market capitalisation, closing on a valuation of $956m today, the company’s highest point since March last year. Ooh Media’s share price is also close to its highest point since before Covid.
Nine also had a good day, rising by 2.8% to land on a market cap of $2.6bn. Rival Seven West Media went the opposite way, losing 3.3% to land on $223m.
The Unmade Index finished the day in positive territory closing on 578.3 points, an improvement of 1.3%.
