Crikey, Scott
Crikey bust a media embargo on Sunday’s forthcoming announcement that Scott Morrison is to be awarded Companion of the Order of Australia in the King’s Birthday Honours. The publication said it had learned of the information outside of the embargo system so was not bound by it. The same goes for Unmade.

The ABC’s Late Night Live presenter David Marr dropped out of the University of Sydney’s Honi Soit student journalism conference in protest at the decision to withdraw an invitation to news.com.au’s political editor Samantha Maiden because of her opinions on Palestine.

Soccer sensation
More than half a million viewers tuned in for at least some of the Socceroos’ crucial World Cup qualifier against Japan. It was the fourth most watched TV program of Thursday night, a big result for Network Ten.
End (even more) nigh for The Project?
Speaking of Ten, The Project will end soon, TV Blackbox reported, building on speculation which was kicked off by The Australian last week. A new half hour news-based show will air from Monday to Thursday, TV Blackbox says, with the change likely to happen in “July or August”. Ten has previously denied any decision has been made.

More from Mumbrella…
Time to leave you to your evening.
I’ll be back in the morning with Best of the Week.
And if you’d like a little more of me, I’ll be on air on ABC Radio National shortly. MediaLand kicks off at 5.30, and we’ve a cracking interview with former Fairfax Media boss Greg Hywood as he looks back on a 50 year career in the media. If you don’t catch Vivienne Kelly and me on broadcast, you’ll find the show in the usual podcast places in a few minutes too.
