2GB drifts into icy waters while K+J see the shoreline
Welcome to a midweek update written for Unmade’s paying members. Everyone else will hit a paywall further down.
Today: This week’s radio ratings were really bad for 2GB: just how much trouble is the station in? And a little hope for The Kyle & Jackie O Show.
It’s your last chance to sign up to a paid membership of Unmade and lock in all of the current benefits. In a few weeks’ time, we’re going to stop accepting new paying members of Unmade. Instead we’ll be offering membership of an expanded Mumbrella Pro as we bring the two brands closer together.
All Unmade membership perks will be carried across, including complimentary tickets to REmade, Unlock and Compass for our annual paying members. These won’t be available to anyone else as part of the new Mumbrella Pro membership.
Your paid membership also includes exclusive analysis, like the piece below, and access to our content archive, which goes behind the paywall six weeks after publication.
Your voucher code is available at the end of today’s post.

Bad news and good news in the radio ratings
In the zero game of ratings share, every win for one network means a loss for somebody else. This week’s results mark a low spot for 2GB, and an improving pulse for The Kyle & Jackie O Show
How does the 2GB blazer crew turn around their hour-by hour switchoff?
We’ll start with talk station 2GB, which is past the point where its bosses at Nine Radio should be worrying.
Ben Fordham lost his lead in the Sydney breakfast slot to Kiis’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
But that’s not the main problem - that lead has swapped at least five times previously.
2GB’s biggest problem is the rest of its schedule. Throughout the day until 7pm, every 2GB show loses share and audience compared to the one before.
